The barracks started with a concept to solve a need at a time when wounded Marines were coming back to

leave behind elements and little support. Many fended for themselves on medication and little means to get to food and services. Recovering himself, LtCol Maxwell understood that they still needed a team and began approaching then II MEF Commander, General Amos to solve the issue with a place the Marines could heal together.
