Lance Corporal Marc Olson was one of 14 individuals wounded Saturday when suicide bombers attacked the post he was working at in Ramadi, Iraq.
Olson, of CoalCity, sustained major head, neck and eye injuries.
Initially treated in Iraq, Olson was transferred to LandstuhlRegionalMedicalCenter in Germany before being flown to Maryland on Tuesday for further treatment at BethesdaNavalHospital.
"Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers," said his mom, Pinky Kloski, who flew to Maryland Tuesday to be with her son.
According to published reports, two suicide bombers, one possibly in a vehicle, attacked a police headquarters in Ramadi, in the Al Anbar province on Nov. 8. Eight individuals were killed in the attack.
Olson, a 2006 graduate of CoalCityHigh School, is a member of the United States Marines. He was deployed to Iraq on Oct. 8 and was stationed in Ramadi which is about 68 miles west of Baghdad.
Kloski, her husband Jay, and their children, Michelle, John and Alex, extend their sincere appreciation for all the calls, prayers, acts of kindness and get well wishes offered to their son and family.
